There will be a memorial for Larry Emerson
at the Shiprock Chapter House on Sunday, October 8. Larry Waldo Emerson crossed over from this world to the next at home at Tse Daa Kaan (TDK) on the farm where he lived Saturday, August 19, 2017. As a Diné medicine man, his passing followed a traditional four-day ceremony. He was returned to Mother Earth in a humble fashion. The sacred fire was kept alive night and day. As if by design, the Sun, the Moon and the Earth aligned in a total solar eclipse, signifying universal rebirth. Eagles were seen flying above. A rainbow appeared in the sky to the East. For his last meal the family prepared his favorite foods and releases his spirit along the corn pollen path. It is said Larry was an exquisite and rare human being who courageously lived the teachings he shared with many. Loved and cherished by all, he will be remembered. May we Walk In Beauty. May he Rest In Peace. Please stay tuned for updates from Larry's son Marc and a circle of allies, friends, and family. A note from the photographer, Katie Teague:
I have few words as we all know the exquisite and rare human that Larry was and the immense loss to the world his absence is. I will only say, that he was telling stories and teaching (and being stubborn) up until the end. He is a Wayshower to us all in how he walked this last 1.5 years with such profound courage, honesty and love. I leave you with a picture I took about 3-4 years ago that surpasses anything I could say in words. With love, Katie |
